We were brought in to remodel the kitchen and butler pantry of an original 1920s Spanish Mediterranean home. The layout had been significantly altered over time; the kitchen had five doors leading into it. The challenge was to simplify this fractured layout and unify the space while integrating modern conveniences into a meticulous restoration. Ever-changing light washes over hand-worked plaster surfaces and materials—copper sinks and fixtures, marble, hand-hewn beams—each chosen to develop a rich patina over time.
